Depression

Depression
You may feel sad at times, as a reaction to many of life stresses and hassles, but if feelings of intense stress such as hopelessness, worthlessness, and feeling helplessness last for more than a few days, or prevent you from functioning in your normal way, you may be clinically depressed.

Depression is actually quite common, about 8 percent of populations in the western world suffer from depression at any particular time. Symptoms can include depressed mood, reduced interest in activities that you usually enjoy, low appetite, sleep difficulties, fatigue, feelings of worthlessness and sometimes, thoughts of death.

There are a variety of treatments for depression including medication, talk therapies, physical therapies, and social support building therapies. Talk therapies are widely recognised as a key component in the treatment of both mild and more severe depression.

At RED DOOR, all of our counsellors are familiar with the treatment of depression and may recommend other therapies for you to try in collaboration as well.
